While some people feel that space in No Manâs Sky is way too full of celestial bodies to feel immersive, others think that what breaks their immersion is the notoriously small amount of activity all around the galaxy. Busier Space increases the number of ships generated everywhere.
There's several story arcs but they are not anything amazing. The crafting is well thought out but gets repetitive. You can build bases and manage a settlement - but aside to accumulate resources they don't do anything else apart from satisfy your creativity. You can buy and customise ships but in a limited way.
Ark is âset upâ as a story that you gain insight from through a journey of each map. That being said NO you do not NEED to buy the season passes. With just the base game you can download 3 and soon to be 4 maps for free. If you like the content you can always get the season passes later.

imo nms worth it in 2023, game is fun for what it is. but it is nothing like starfield. starfield is a generic bethesda rpg about shooting astronauts at avanposts, if you like bethesda fallout games, starfield is maybe a good game for you, storywise it offers more than nms.but game is a loading screen simulator without feeling of space travel and any exploration - there is noting to explore
